Paulo Leminski

Paulo Leminski was born in Curitiba on August 24, 1944. In 1964 he published his first poems in the magazine "Invention", the spokesman for concrete poetry in São Paulo. He married the poet Alice Ruiz in 1968. From 1970 to 1989 he worked as an advertising publisher. As a composer, some of his songs have been recorded by Caetano Veloso and Cor-do-Som.
His work has exerted a profound influence in all the poetic movements of the last 20 years. His book "Metamorphosis" was the winner of Jabuti Award for Poetry in 1995. In 2001, one of his poems ("Sintonia para pressa e presságio") was selected by Italo Moriconi and included in the book "The Hundred Best Brazilian Poems of Century" Objetiva Publisher Lens - Rio de Janeiro).
Paulo Leminski passed away on june 7th, 1989 in his hometown.
