Japanese Immigration to Curitiba


The Japanese immigration to Brazil began in 1908 based on an agreement between the governments of Brazil and Japan.

In Paraná, the city of Maringa and Londrina are those with the highest number of descendants of Japanese immigrants.

In Curitiba, many Japanese have arrived since 1915, settling mainly in the districts of Uberaba, Campo Comprido, Santa Felicidade and Araucaria.

Today, there are about 35 thousand of Japanese descents in Curitiba.
